Bennett and Kate met at Alabama when one of their mutual friends introduced them at an event for Kate’s sorority. Unbeknownst to Kate, Bennett already had a crush on her from seeing her at church and around campus, so he finally built up the courage to ask her on a date in the Spring of 2019. They fell in love by Christmas, and were engaged a year later on New Year’s Eve 2020.
